How Life Insurance Company Communicates Declines

I am just interested into find out how other life insurance companies communicate declines. One of the reason why I left the captive world at NYL was that when they would decline, they would mail the decision to client, refund the premium paid and then send an electronic message to agent, sometimes with a 1 day delay. There was no chance for the agent to ask any questions and sometimes the client found out before the agent. I have seen ONL decline and they either email or call the agent first.
