Husband on MA. Wife turning 65 in Oct. Husband wants to switch to Medigap (and can qualify) and take advantage of the HH discount.
I told him we could submit both apps to Aetna, one with a 10/1 eff date and his with 1/1. When his policy goes into effect he will get HH discount and wife's rate will be adjusted going forward. (I didn't see that in their underwriting guide but that is usually what happens).
He wants to change now for Oct 1.
Unless I missed something, that will leave him with a 3 month gap in Rx coverage since (I don't think) he can buy a plan now without an SEP).
